Finney’s Fun Facts:

On this day in 1879, Our Blessed Mother, St. Joseph, and St. John appeared in County Mayo, Ireland…at Knock.  There was a Lamb resting on the altar right by  them.

Our Lady of Knock is also known as Our Lady of Silence…her message when she appeared in Knock was unspoken.  In a beautiful hymn for Our Lady of Knock, she is called the Golden Rose, Queen of Ireland, and Queen of Peace.

This is the altar at the Shrine Of Our Lady of Knock in East Durham, New York. Behind the altar is a depiction of Our Blessed Mother with St. Joseph and St. John at her sides, with the lamb on the altar to her left.

Finney says, “I am so glad you came today!

God bless you is what I do say!”

  1. Thanks, a chuisle! I especially love this story of Our Lady because she came just to be with her children…just “being there!” No conversation, just presence…so very often, in our own lives, that is the best we have to offer each other. No “answers”…just to be there for each other. God takes care of everything! Also interesting food for thought…St. Joseph and St. John were with her…the altar with the Lamb…hmmm…

  2. To my dear friend Finney😊
Even though it has been a while, I think of you so very often!! I love our Blessed Mother and her beautiful title Our Lady of Knock!! In her apparition I love her silence. As I have heard it said silence is golden. I truly believe this. It is in the silence of our hearts that we hear Jesus speak to us. There is so much noise today it is hard to find at times during the day a quiet moment. Poor Jesus might want to speak to us, but He has a hard time competing with the noise of the world. I think our Blessed Mothers apparition might also be a reminder to all of us, just how precious silence is.

  3. To my dear Friend Jane from your dear Friend Finney!

Hellooo to you, Jane, my dear Friend!
It is so nice that you did send,
To me, a note, on this grand day!
I’ll tell you that I want to say
This day was fine when sunrise came,
But…grander, when I saw your name!
I like the quiet just like you,
But there are times when we, each, do
Some things that won’t let “quiet” stay…
    Like dancin’ music…it will play
And toes start tappin’…fun does start!
Then Dancin’! Dancin’! till we part!
I think that Jesus and His Mum
Must like the music, at least some…
‘Cause I hear music from the Church,
And then I find a hidden perch,
To watch and hear and toe-tap, too…
Must be from Heav’n…for me and you!
God is so good…He is so grand!
He let His Mum come to Ireland!
With thankful hearts, we think of then,
And hope she does come back again!
Thank you, dear Jane, for being Friends!
Please always know that my note sends
A thank you for your note today!
God bless you is what I do say!
